August Quilty Secrets and Guilty Secrets
The last month of summer is here and a quilty fall is around the corner
Summer is so busy in the north. I remind myself frequently this time of year that the frenetic days of sunlight and summer are temporary. We are just weeks away from school starting and the beginning of slower days, cooler weather, and more quilting on the couch in front of the fire.
Here are ten quilty things I am up to in August.
The Workshop. Two days ago I taught a quilting workshop at the Driftless Folk School. I am so excited about opportunities to do talks in person, to meet new people, and to connect. I enjoyed teaching but I don’t think teaching in person quilt workshops falls into the list of things I want to commit to in the future.
I love writing about how to quilt on social media and here on the blog, but the in person workshop doesn’t fit whatever the public aspect of this “project” is for me. These decisions are never easy and never feel completely without loss. This will mostly likely be the last in-person workshop I teach. I loved it and hope to connect with the quilters I met this week in the future. I won’t close the door forever, but unless the exact right situation comes up I won’t be pursuing more. I do plan to try some zoom q&a and maybe even some online workshops instead if there is interest.
