Happy early Spring! I spent a lot of time in my quilt study this February and even got my hands wet with some dyes. I’m expecting to spend more and more time outside as march warms up and I start to plan my garden. Here’s a rundown on all my Quilty adventures this February.
Continuing to stitch the baptist fan pattern.
I enjoy stitching while sitting on the couch talking with friends and family or watching tv. My family just finished watching the new Percy Jackson show. I’m finished with the first half. Quilting is slow because this pattern is dense - must denser than required for a quilt but it feels worth it to me.
Madder dyeing.
I typically dye with natural dye extracts because I like the way they create deep colors easily but I had some madder root and decided to try it. I like these reddy oranges. Madder is very easy to shift with pH from orange and coral to red and purple. It's one of the most interesting colors to dye with.
